To run Homebrew, you need either:-Slot 1 Flash Card (Image 1)-OR-Slot 2 Flash Cart and a PassKey. (Image 2 & 3 ) I, and many others recommend Slot 1 Flash Cards because of their compatibility rate. Most Flash Card/Cart runs off Removable Storage such as micro or miniSD (Image 4), with the exclusion of the G6 which has built in memory. DSi-Enhanced games currently won't work in DSi mode. If you have a DSi with Unlaunch, you can set Unlaunch as a Slot-1 launch method, and launch the cartridges in DSi mode. I've never had a problem booting into DS Mode with a slot 2 device except on my old DS phat with my M3 CF, as the contacts would get dirty and cause it to not work in DS mode. As for the programs, they only boot in DS mode as far as I know, but there are save-backup alternatives for Slot 1 you could use that work through Wi-Fi, however these.

Dsi Slot 1 Not Working Remotely
Expected behaviour
Tested with: DSTTi, Cars 2, Scribblenauts, hiya, unlaunch installer, GBArunner2 (boots into gameboy logo then freezes)
Can boot: NES/SNES roms
Can boot all slot-1 cards via DSi menu
Actual behaviour
Freeze on white screen
Steps to reproduce
- Boot into TWLmenu fine
- Try to play NES/SNES roms (it works fine)
- Try to boot into slot-1 or GBArunner2 (white screen freeze)
